Mitchelton Print Series Shiraz 2001

Decanted for 3 hours before service.

Red purple in colour. A wonderfully rich nose of chocolate, blueberry, developed red fruits, vanilla, coffee and a little earthiness. The palate felt like molten chocolate flowing over the tongue, with integrated supporting fine tannins and acid. Lots of mocha and raspberries also.

Delicious! Probably not getting any better, though - I must see if I have any more in the cellar. A most satisfying wine to accompany a simply seasoned fillet steak.

Thanks Allan for the great note, one of the many wines that started my Victorian odyssey 25 years ago. I have a few 90,91, 92 and a dozen of the 98 and 02.
I have on the list this year to get to a few of these.
Cheers
Craig.

Good to hear, Craig. Is Shiraz therefore a theme for the next Adelaide offline? I'd travel a fair distance for these wines :)

Hi Allan,
Was it cork or screwcap?
Just curious
Cheers, Nic

Cork, Nic. It came out in several pieces and needed straining into the decanter
