i guess it depends or what others have so we can mix and match and get a nice spread of vintages.

12 seems like a good number. Venue doesn't bother me.
I think some Adelaide forumites did an offline recently at the Publishers Hotel?

Have added you both to the list. There is probably still time to pick up a back vintage at auction if you want to go for an earlier year, otherwise a 13 or 14 and a 10 or 11 works (hopefully we can get a spread of earlier years from others).

For my part, I will bring a 2001 Cab Malbec and a 2004 Muscat of Alexandria.

I'm keen.

I'd probably bring a 2002 Shiraz to see how that's travelling.

TQ, I am keen to come to this...will check that nothing else is happening.
I have some 90s MofA's and will bring an early to mid 90s red (Shiraz, or cab or pressings).
If we can find somewhere under $100 a head I would be appreciative.

I'm checking with Press regarding what they can do for us, and BYO cost. Will report back.

Gail and I would love to attend. I know I have a 1999 Shiraz Mataro and almost certainly have a cabernet from the early 2000s somewhere.

I would be a tentative at this stage. I've got a '05 Shiraz-Mataro

Please put me down as a tentative (subject to kids sport not falling on that night).

I have some gear from the '90s or '00s that would fit the profile.

I would like to be involved, and have many of their wines from 1991 to current release. Cab, cab/malbec, shiraz, sh/malb & sh/mataro So happy to wait to see what would fit in best.

Hi all. Have been in touch with Press to see if they can accommodate our wine dinner. I've been advised that they don't usually accept BYO, but that they'll make an exception in our case and allow 2 bottles of BYO, which really defeats the purpose of the evening

I also checked in with Restaurant Blackwood (downstairs sister restaurant to Orana). That seemed like a good option until they advised that the corkage fee is $60 per bottle

So it's back to the drawing board.... Reading through old Adelaide offline discussions, it looks like Publishers, La Bonne Table, Insieme, Chloes, Citi Zen and Star of Siam might be possible options. Happy to run with other suggestions too...

All of those look fine, although I am not sure that Thai food will work with Wendouree.

Thats dissapointing about Press. How about cos on leigh st. Or an expensive steak at gouchos?
Bistro Dom on waymouth ?
A great value greek restaurant called kefi on tapley hill rd glenelg would be ideal they head back to greece winter time tho so would have to call and check.
Also theres a good valued Peruvian restaurant in glenelg south called mestizo that do hearty meat dish's that would be a great match.

I am confirmed now...asked the better half if she wished to attend...but no!!

Never ceases to amaze me the draconian practices of Adelaide restaurateurs gouging a few wine loving souls...$60 for corkage...WTF
Be interesting if we all did single bookings at Press and turned up with a bottle or two.

Hunter, very happy if options down the Bay are explored, where proprietors might be less precious and I can jump on a tram.

Wasn't surprised by Press' response, have unsuccessfully tried to BYO there on a few occasions.

I note that the restaurant at Elektra House does free BYO on Tuesday nights - that might be a good option.

Otherwise, I was thinking for a change we might consider somewhere like La Trattoria on King William St or maybe Amalfi on Frome. Sosta or Gauchos might be BYO options too. Non-meat lovers might struggle though.

Lots of options. Almafi is always jam packed and would be hard to have a conversation there on a busy friday night. I think ?

My preference would probably be to stick close to the city, if possible, but happy to branch further out if that is the consensus

How would you all feel about Stones Throw in Norwood or Cliche Exhibition in North Adelaide? I've eaten at both and the food is solid. Both offer reasonably priced tasting menus ($65 and $45/$53 dessert) that they can tailor to match our wines and $20 / $10 corkage. Stones Throw can seat us in a private room and Cliche is offering a reduced $10 corkage (upstairs seating where it is apparently not too loud).

Otherwise, Electra House has confirmed they can offer a $58 tasting menu, $25 corkage and a private outside terrace (with lots of gas heating!), and Bistro Dom will cater for us with an $85 tasting menu and $20 corkage with a table in the main restaurant.

Great work so far TQ. Honestly I don't mind where we go.
I think anywhere between $80-120 is a fair price to pay for food and corkage. But again, I'm flexible.
Not sure If I'm getting old but having our own space/room would be nice in case we end up in a boom box.
Just my 2 cents.

TQ really like the look of cliché and corkage of $10 per bottle looks the goods!
Electra house is one that I have been wanting to try for some time now...again very appreciative of all your efforts to date.

PS. read a report in the AFR this week....9000 small businesses in OZ failed last year...in their first year of trade...many in hospitality.
Perhaps they were charging $60+for corkage??

Both but relevant here is the great value ADL dining is. As an outsider it's always been great and a comfortable city to eat in compared to other Australian cities

I don't choke at $60 for corkage. At an offline yes of course . But if I'm taking an amazing bottle to an amazing restaurant I'm ok .

Hi. A late addition - Amalfi has gotten back to me to advise that they can do us a $40 menu (starters / antipasti, pasta / pizza and veal cotoletta) with $15 corkage and a table near the back. I expect that might be a bit noisy, though? Good value, though. Maybe we should consider it for a later future with a focus on Italian varietals

If anyone has any objections to Cliché, please let me know, otherwise, if we're all agreed, I'll lock it in for the offline early next week (heading away for Easter).
