2009 Maison de Grand Esprit Cote de Nuits Villages, La Belle Voisine (screwcap): 13% alc. Medium garnet with a brick rim. Tight and clean nose, duck fat, minty currants, tea chest, star anise, plum sauce and meaty juices and liquorice, definitely Corton-like as it breathes. The palate’s slender and lean, with light, silky tannins, smoked tea and fennel on the finish; it’s a nice drink and solid lower level Burgundy, but I would ideally like to see more structure.
Cheers,
Ian
