1996 Antonin Guyon Grand Cru Corton Charlemagne (cork): 13% alc. Dark gold/light amber. At it’s peak now, opening with French vanilla cheesecake, sweet lemon, golden delicious apple, hazlenut, dried flowers and a little ginger and tobacco. The palate is fresher and has the best balance of the bottles I have tried, there’s enough fruit to balance the massive and yet creamy acidity which kicks in mid-palate to the long, minerally finish, some smoky/vanillin oak on the rebound. My final bottle and the best one, from the start it had the best visual condition so I kept it the longest - always a gamble, but this time it paid off.

Thanks for the complement about the photography, it's something I worked on for a while to have as a worthwhile addition to each tasting note. While it's far from perfect, it's come a long way and hopefully is reasonably consistent.

I cringe when I go back and look at the old photos when I started posting them here a few years ago, they really look like I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.
