2010 Loma Larga Pinot Noir, Casablanca Valley (cork): 14.9% alc. Medium red/garnet. Rubbery, strawberry jam and molten liquorice, green herbs, tar and boiled lollies, more overripe Grenache-like than Pinot territory; the palate’s slender, hot and minty, smoky and rubbery, it’s nothing like Burgundy or the better end of Australian Pinot. A massive disappointment for the not too subtle price; jammy fruit and alcohol doesn’t make up for what appears to be a severe mercaptan fault.
