Adelaide visit

This sounds a little like some recent posts, but:

I'm going to Adelaide for a couple of weeks holiday later this month. I doubt I'll go to as many CDs as I'd like, but I hope to get a day in the Barossa, a day in McLaren Vale and maybe a quick trip into the hills.

So, which CDs are worth visiting at this time of year? My first thoughts include Rockford, Kaesler, Veritas and Dutchke in the Barossa; Wirra Wirra, D'Arenberg, Arakoon and perhaps Scarpantoni in McV; maybe Ashton Hills as well.

I'd hate to visit a highly recommended CD and discover that all of the good stuff was sold last December.

Recommendations welcome.

Kieran, dont miss Coriole and Kays in McLaren Vale, and consider pertaringa too - the CD also shows the Geoff Hardy K1 range. Check ahead with Arakoon to ensure there is someone there.

Not sure about release timings or availability, but also consider Charles Melton and Turkey flat in the Barossa, and maybe Burge Family, Torbreck and Two Hands.

also why single out Ashton Hills? if you are going to the Adelaide Hills go to Petaluma, Nepenthe and Shaw and Smith (if you are prepared to shell out $10 to taste steep but IMO worth it).

cheers

Kieran,

Rockfords not open on Sundays. Dutschke doesn't have a cellar door but drop him an email to arrange a visit (http://www.dutschkewines.com) ,

If you're going to Petaluma ask to taste their 100% Viognier, I thought it was very impressive and top of their lot.

I'd consider D'Arenberg and Penny's Hill in the Vale as well as Nepenthe in the Hills.

Cheers,

Patrik
