Framingham Dry Riesling 2005 (Marborough NZ)

Post by Waiters Friend »

Framingham is a bit of a riesling specialist in the land of sauvignon blanc. If you include dessert wines, there's at least 5 different rieslings on offer. The Dry Riesling is released with several years' bottle age and is apparently a single vineyard wine.

It's yellow in colour - quite light for a 12 year old wine. There's a hint of kero upon opening.

The nose shows orange peel, with intense lemon and pith. There's also some toasty, honeyed notes, but these do not dominate the fruit. The palate is also all about the fruit, with acidity playing a strong supporting role. The finish is incredible - quite long and cleansing but still with that fruit intensity - it's consistent all the way down.

One of the best aged rieslings I've had this year :).

Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
