This is from CVs Regional Range, and is not to be confused with their 'Scholar' (also MR Cab, but 3 times the price).
2011 was a cracker year in MR, and the wines I am opening now reflect this. At 5 years old, the colour is red / purple. It was decanted 30 minutes before service.
The nose has developed from 3 years ago, and the fruit has moved from blackcurrant to blackberry and especially ripe mulberry. It's supported by spicy oak (some vanilla and cinnamon or clove). The palate has softened, with tannins now powdery and the acid supporting rather than dominating the fruit. There's an impression of softness, yet the wine is flavourful and satisfying.
Probably at its peak now, and an enjoyable wine

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Only seriously discovered MR cabs and blends about 8-10 years ago and VFM Capel Vale is top of the pops. Main winery is in Geographe, just north of MR, which may explain this. Poor cousin syndrome. Drink wine, not labels. In my experience labels do not impart much flavour into a wine.
