Penfolds Grange

I was gifted a bottle of 2003 Penfolds Grange that I wish to open on New Years Eve with family. Can someone advise me on how long to decanter the wine for, and the best temperature to serve it at? Thank you in advance.

Hi Tudor55 and welcome to the forum!

Here my answer to a similar question a few weeks back. Applies equally to the 2003. It's a robust, big wine from a hot vintage so best to have some hearty food with it, or just a hunk of good cheese, depending on the vibe. Expect big rich blackcurrant flavours with an element of port or brandy-like notes.

Please come back and let us know how it was?

P.S If you're confident it's corked, don't drink it, pour the rest into the bottle, put the original cork back in, and contact Penfolds via TWE. They will usually replace a TCA affected bottle with a current vintage one, but would need the cork and/or bottle returned to them first for testing (they usually arrange courier etc).

Thanks TiggerK for your reply. Any advise on my original question "how long to decanter, and at what temperature?''
Cheers,
Gareth
