We go through a lot of high quality olive oils in Hong Kong and we've been dismayed by some quality control issues with pricey Italian products .
Love Joseph olive oils , Coriole too. Any other reccos for winery olive oils ? I need to buy a few good bottles. Australia seems to have better regulation

In our household we tend to avoid "Italian" olive oils, since they are usually industrial blends of olive oils from across the Mediterranean, mostly from Spain, Portugal and Tunisia. We focus on olive oils from the country of origin, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Spain for the most part. Not likely to find Australian winery olive oils here in Edmonton.
Mahmoud.

Every Autumn I make a point of hunting down some of the 'first press' oils of the new season. They don't last as long as normal oils, but are almost gluggable. If you are lucky to get one fresh off the press, then it can resemble Gatorade in colour, but the taste is much much nicer.

If you stray from Piedmont into Tuscany Jamie, a number of wineries also produce Olive Oil.

Spoilt for choice in Australia these days!
Thanks Chris, yes, the advice we received from foodies in Hong Kong is to source Italian oils only from wineries to have a genuine product . Loaded up in Umbria last year and need to do the same on this visit to Australia.

McIvor Estate in Heathcote make some lovely olive oils. I've been loading up with the 4l corregiolo/frantoio blend for the past couple of years:

Torzi-Matthews do a few good ones. Very good.
Quite often get sent one in with samples from various producers, though I certainly don't seek that sort of thing out. Much prefer cash in brown envelopes...

I also enjoy Primo Estate. Freycinet also make a good oil. From memory, they picked up a olive grove when the purchased the block next door a few years back.

I agree. Amongst the best we've had.

Montalto on the Mornington peninsula are producing some pretty good wines these days but I can remember a time when people were far more enamoured with their olive oils. I've got some vague recollection of Coriole having some decent oil, but it was a long time ago.
I'll second the McIvor oils too. There would be so many other options that I am sure I have tried and liked.

Second vote for Joseph as a bit of a staple.
We also like the Olivers Taranga oil. Lighter style, works well for some recipes.
Castagna have also started make a cracking good oil.

Leyontina on the Mornington Peninsula arguably produce the best EVO in the region, closely followed by Leaping Goat.
They are both solely EVO producers from their own groves, UNLIKE many of the winery EVO's.
Great to meet you at the offline!
