MyattsField Cabenet Merlot 2007

A museum release from this Perth hills winery. 73% CS, 27% Merlot
Red purple in colour. Developed and complex nose - earthy, red and dark fruit compote, savoury and spicy oak.
Raspberry dominates the palate, along with a hint of milk chocolate, fine grained tannins. Although the fruit is developed, it still has a degree of freshness, and this is well supported by the acid. The finish is medium but satisfying. A well balanced wine, and it shows the cellaring potential of MyattsField's cabernet based blends (which most of their Reserve reds seem to be).
Cheers
