MyattsField Cabernet Tempranillo Merlot 2008

After a rummage in the cellar, I found this in a box marked "Tempranillo". It's been sitting there for 4-5 years. It's an unusual blend indeed - CS 36%, Tempranillo and Merlot 32% each. I recall being quite enthusiastic about this wine in its early years, but I haven't seen it for a while.
Red purple in colour. There's a hint of tobacco on the nose amongst the red fruits, some leather and developed savoury characters. The palate is medium to full bodied, with some richness of flavour, especially across the front and mid palate. Tannins are firm and supportive, slightly grippy, and there's a good line of acid leading to a long-ish finish.
This is an interesting and different wine, albeit not going to get any better. I hope I find another one of these in the cellar by accident.
Cheers
