The Joseph Myatt Reserve is the flagship red from this Perth Hills vineyard. Made since the 2004 vintage, the composition has changed dramatically over the years. Initially Merlot dominant, it's now Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, and a leaning towards Petit Verdot and away from Merlot. This is 89% Cabernet, 11% Petit Verdot.
Deep purple in colour. A full and complex nose, with rich blackcurrant, blueberry, vanillan oak, cedar and cloves. The palate is also rich and warm, with the berry flavours flooding the palate over tightly wound grippy tannins, good supporting acid, leading to a long and satisfying finish.
The back label suggests 5-10 years. My experience with MyattsField Reserve wines is that the longer period is more likely, and I have a couple (at least) of every vintage in the cellar. This is a 'buy' for me.
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
