Dan's Cellar

Post by Cloth Ears »

Decided to have a visit to Dan's new/old cellar at the original location on Chapel St on Sunday. Heaven on a stick! Lovely lighting and a whole heap of wines that I should never be exposed to (as my budget would break). The Bass Philip boxes stacked in one corner had me drooling a little. Word has it that Wynns topped up their Black Label collection on the first day - as they were missing a couple of years.
We ended up being very frugal and only took away bottle 243 of 488 of the Hellyers Road Saint Valentine's Peak bottling, plus a bottle of '91 Wynns Black Label CabSauv. They've even got a 750ml bottle of the original 1978 first bottling of the Seppeltsfield 100yo tawny - plus a number of bottles that were for display only (very sad!).
Worth a trip if you're in Prahran, if only to have a browse.

Out of curiousity, how much did you pay for the 1991 Wynns BL Cab Sav?

I believe it was $91 - but I'd have to check at home. Definitely under $100 and over $80. And with a guarantee of replacement, swap or refund if it's not in good nick (although I'd guess this would only apply for the first few months).
