Cleanskins and legislation

Post by kaos »

Forgive me if this topic has gone around previously but, I was into a cleanskin bottle of <producer's name redacted> riesling last night and it occured to me that there are a bunch of legislative labelling requirements relating to retailing wine (eg % alcohol and # std drinks, warnings re consumption when pregnant, etc). How does the retailing of unlabelled wine (in a plain box in this case) address these requirements?

I believe that unlabelled bottles can only be sold if they are contained in a sealed carton with the usual mandatory information displayed on the box. If the box is just plain, that would be illegal.
