We must be getting close now. Mailer should be coming soon. Does anyone know how 2014 faired in the Clare? Did it suit Shiraz or Cabernet more?

Tim White in the Weekend AFR recently wrote about some cabernet wines including the 2014 Wendouree Cab Sav, and he gave the Wendouree 95(97) compared to Vasse Felix 96(97) and Moss Wood 2012 94(95).
The Bradys give him early samples. He didn't try the Shiraz or blends.
So, looks like 2014 continues the high standards.

Clare has had a very good run of vintages from 2012 - 2016.
if you look at the wine show circuit results, 2014 has faired very well for the region in general.

Heard that they are switching to a completely new allocation system this year and it will be completely different, black crayon is gone.

Mailer just arrived - red mark intact. I had a skinny allocation last year so fingers crossed here.

Even with the red mark did you miss some of what you ordered? I have a red and have always received what I have ordered.

Was there any substance to the new allocation procedure rumors? If eventually sold this would make some sense .
If not I'll get 6 of each.
Still confident I will go the distance in tandem with the 2014's.....

Just make sure you stay at a constant 37 degrees without any temperature fluctuations.

Interestingly - the cab Malbec has 20% Shiraz in it as well. Sounds good or does it??
Any opinions

Did people order less or more than normal of the Cab/Malb due to the shiraz component?

I get a sense that many of the Wendouree buyers are slowly moving away from a Shiraz only purchase. It might also be that the expression of Shiraz can be had with 2/3 of the wines...so variety is attractive.

When the sale goes through, I hear the allocations will be reduced to a mixed six pack only for black crayon initials. The marketing plan will see price hikes and an EP allocation process. New wines in the lineage from around the Clare area.

New wines? Either branching into white wines or new varieties, all of which purchased fruit. Please disclose your source.

OK Jamie...time to let the cat out of the bag...HKWS new owners??
Plenty in that part of the world where $20 mill. or so is small change
.
If it is sold and finally some arsehole wants to gouge long standing loyal customers and have a whole new group of buyers lined up where either money is no option or an over subscribed EP campaign...then they can have it.
I did a quick check, have been on the mailer 25 years, have about a dozen bottles left from pre 90s and about 300-350 bottles post 1990.
That will see some lovely drinking over the next 30 years and I can leave the bunfight to others.
Can see plenty of pretty little six packs being flicked.
Cheers
Craig

And that's probably when I'll call it a day for Wendouree.

I love this, Wendouree is so revered that there are two threads going concurrently about them.

And Hacker, when Jamie finally confirms his news...or its business as usual, there may well be a third thread...your best Wendouree moment.
I hope its not sold, I'm a couple or so vintages from three decades and really they are very well priced wines.
That said its also becoming a little bit of a legacy, habitual, routine...but its good...will have plenty to share with my lads over the coming years.
Cheers

There's actually three. Mercifully "It's arrived" didn't get off the ground.

I saw the entire 2014 range for sale today at $89.99 per bottle in an independent retailer in Adelaide (very limited stock)
(I have no affiliation with the retailer).

I know! Lots of bottles purchased too by the looks of it. I am not sure a lot of people are educated about the auction scene.
Perhaps your "rumour" is driving up the price?
