1988 Wolf Blass XXX Years Clare Cabernets magnum, Clare Valley (cork): 13% alc. Made to mark Wolfie's 30th Anniversary of wine making in Australia, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Shiraz, matured 18 months in American & French oak. Medium brick/brown. Heavily aged and leathery, a little porty too, run & raisin chocolate, sois bois, truffle, tobacco and a little gunpowder matched to fading raspberry fruit; it’s medium-weight with good persistance/length, the American oak spicy and obvious but not unpleasant. The magnum wasn’t in good condition when I got it and started leaking immediately, so under the circumstances I would call this a success.

I liked the old Wolf Blass labels, this is a bit of a throwback but is already a bit modern.

Thanks...............Mahmoud.

Looks beautiful Ian, reminds me of the '83 Yellow Label. I drank a lot of them years ago and loved the label. There is one left sitting somewhere in the cellar. Even if it ends up being past it, at least the label will cheer me up.

Mahmoud.
