Peel Estate Shiraz 2010 (WA)

G'day
Peel Estate produces consistent and generally long-living Shiraz (see http://forum.auswine.com.au/viewtopic.p ... el#p128357) and this is their new release (so 2010 is the current vintage). 15% alcohol, and it's bottled under screwcap.
Not surprisingly, this is a pretty big wine. Deep purple in colour, with the nose having cedar / vanilla, black pepper and spices, and lots of dark fruits jumping out of the glass. The palate is textured (possibly due to 'minimal filtration' as well as the chunky tannins) and full bodied, finishing long and rich, with mocha and black fruits. The alcohol betrays the wine by being slightly hot, but that aside, this is a typical Peel Shiraz.
The price has snuck up a little, but this is worth the dollars.
Cheers
Allan
