Nine days in and no one has started this yet.
For me I picked these up from the lottery at a silly price:

Quite a pronounced swing toward Australian wines of late.
Kilikanoon Super Six from 2006. I'll drink them all next month and post some notes.

My guess is that due to the scaling back of ripeness and alcohol, people are finding them more appealing (and the weaker AUD makes imports cost prohibitive).

Not sure if you are seeing it Mike but those monster Parkerized wines are as fashionable as mullets these days and I think we are starting to see them dumped in HKG at cheap-cheap prices. I hope Australia builds from a quality and value base and not marketing in this currency lead resurgence.

They're getting harder to find. A few UK and California stores specialise in them, but the better wine stores are increasingly bereft of an Aussie wines.

Mike, pre-order through a third party at a pretty good price. Have to sometimes have a win like you and Jamie, (MM Quintet mags at single bottle prices...if only!!) but think it will be my last Pennies purchase.
The official release is October 15th.
Cheers

Malcolm, funny you should say that, and the lady I live with is suggesting same, I am slowly drawing to a close.
A close that is on anything (perhaps bar a Bolly GA or RD...my absolute faves) on any vinous purchase which exceeds a $100 a bottle.
I think that I am now having a little perspective in my wine life and are beginning to take stock.
Quintet, Best's Thompson's, Magill Estate, JR and Michael, O'Shea, Graveyard, Mt Ed, those days are finished.
I am going to focus on the sub $30 market and the odd buy between $50-60.
After Xmas 2015, I am going to put it to the punters here, or, i might do it next week, what can be found in say MR/GS, LC, McV, Barossa, Clare, NSW and VIC in the above brackets. For future purchases I am looking for a bit of diversity, far far far too much Coonawarra in my collection...not that you would say that's a bad thing
Cheers and sorry I cannot make it to Gods country this weekend...another dinner at Pipers would really hit the spot!
Craig.
PS...could break the rules if anyone has a well kept 65 Black Label...shit vintage in Coonawarra, but could be worth a $100...+

Nice one... I'm guessing it will come out at about $85 based on chats with a couple of retailers. Hope I'm wrong and its south of that....

Mike - can confirm price further south based on your info received but that was a select mailout - not sure what will transpire into the day to day realms
6 x 2012 St Henri
4 x 2013 RWT
3 x 2012 Rockford BP - via a retailer (the only way I will ever get it!) still not at stupid prices only nearly 50% markup on cellar door price
Will wait for the bidding war tomorrow morning before purchasing some of the commoner Pennies items

Thanks ! I often buy Champers after having tasted them first... this was an exception. A few people I know speak highly of this release, and the other BdBs I've had from 2008 have the makings of superb wines down the track.
