John Kosovich is a long established (1922) Swan Valley producer, who also sources fruit from Pemberton. This wine is entirely from Pemberton vineyards. 85% Cabernet, 15% Malbec and 12 months of new and two year old French oak.

Decanted an hour before service, and garnet in colour. Spicy nose with blackberry, raspberry, tobacco, fresh red plums, and slight vanilla. Palate has dry, dusty tannins, fresh red fruits, and a good length finish.

I've had a couple of previous vintages of this wine, and this is one of the better ones. Give it another couple of years and it should be looking even better.

I don't know why I did this, but I haven't had another bottle of this in 8 years. Fortunately, not a problem - this is in splendid form at 13 years of age.

Deep purple in colour, with a violet rim. There's cedary oak on the nose, along with a range of primary and secondary dark fruits. The combination is quite full and almost heady. Tobacco is still there also, along with a little tar and graphite. The palate is complex and flavourful, with dark and red fruits bouncing around over vanilla and cedary oak. There's a hint of mocha in the background. Tannins are pretty well integrated and the grip is modest. The wine is medium to full bodied, and the finish is long and satisfying.

Lookiong very good now, and possibly not likely to improve much - but I'll let you know if I leave the next bottle until 2031
