This Swan Valley producer established its Margaret River vineyard about 20 year ago, and now all of its Cabernet is sourced from MR.

This is one of the best Cabernets from this maker in a while, and very Margaret River in style. Dense purple in colour, with intense blackcurrant and some eucalypt over spicy oak. The palate is rich and ripe, with blackcurrants and bright red berries overlaying the dry dusty tannins. The finish is long and clean.

2011 was a glorious Margaret River vintage, and this shows the year off very well. It should go another 5-8 years with no trouble at all.

Cheers

Allan

Just opened my last bottle. The colour is still quite bright, but has lightened to crimson. The wine has (not surprisingly) developed in the last (nearly) 5 years, but still retains much of the blackberry, less of the red berry and most of the dusty tannins from the tasting note above. There's even still some eucalypt, quite pleasing. Still a reasonably long clean finish, with no sharp edges at all.

Although not yet in decline, I don't think it will hold much longer. Drink now if you still have some.

Where's the "like" button? Regardless, happy to continue with the repeat tastings, as seeing the evolution of these wines is what fascinates me.
