Event: 2001 Aussie Shiraz
Date: May 5th
Time: 6:30PM
Location: Fort Mason, San Francisco - Marina Room
Aussie shiraz was first planted in the 19th century. The wine was a staple in Australia similar to zinfandel, here in the states- inexpensive, easy to drink, and readily available. In the past 30 years, as the Aussie wineries and people demanded a more sophisticated, world-class wine, shiraz has become more complex, concentrated and ageable. Since 1998, Robert Parker has rated 3 vintages a score of 95 including the one we will be drinking tonight, 2001. So, get ready for black teeth as we will be drinking many of the most concentrated and exciting modern wines in the market today.
The wines for the evening:
d'Arenberg Dead Arm (98RP)
Forefathers McLaren Vale, Australia (94WS)
Marquis Philips Integrity (99RP)
Cape D'Estaing Kangaroo Island (94RP)
Clarendon Hills Liandra (93RP)
Henry's Drive Reserve (96RP)
Kay Brothers Amery Hillside (95RP)
