New Dan Murphys Rewards Program - Good or Bad?

Evening all
I noticed today Dan Murphys has launched a new rewards program called "My Dan Murphys".
I am not sure how long it has been around but could only find this one brief site review on it:
http://www.dailysaversclub.com.au/my-dan-murphys-rewards-program-mydanmurphys-com-au/It certainly does look like a better program than Vintage Cellars which costs a fortune to obtain cellar shares.
Apart from that I can't see any major benefits from joining it. No doubt Dan's will be using all that shopper data for their own benefit!
I went and joined up anyway to see how it goes, might be some good wine competitions to win.
Overall, good or bad thing for Aussie wine drinkers?

I don't understand how it can be a better program when it doesn't really have any well defined benefits? At least you know what you are getting with VC,

"Unlimited" shipping for a per year fee? Now that is a new gimmick ... Can then order single bottles as the mood takes you?? Curious

I had a bit of a look, and unless you sign up you wont know whether there is much benefit to be had.
Even on the Dan Murphy's website there isn't a whole lot of information.
Of course they will be using that shopper data for their own benefit, the benefit of other Woolworths companies and and any other companies they choose to partner with. Some of the things they can do with customer analytics these days are pretty amazing, so that data has become a valuable commodity.

Regardless of the benefits or otherwise, it may not be appropriate to be discussing this on a forum hosted by a wine retailer.

Ah, so no mention of the existence of any other retailer at all?

The guy who pays to host this place out of his own pocket for you to enjoy doesn't need his direct competitors advertised here, and posting hyperlinks directly to them is a huge no no - I have already asked for the link in the opening post of this thread to be removed. If crap like this was posted over at Bert's place it would have been deleted within 30 minutes and the poster reprimanded or banned.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12746Gavin is a very tolerant guy and lets a lot go around here, but one day he could easily say screw this, this place is costing me money and it may disappear with all of its free tasting notes and discussions. Think about it guys.

Just confirming, and it's fun to imagine you getting apoplectic

Yeah, well it's a little hard to accept the thread starter's 'apology' when they haven't bothered to remove an offensive hyperlink in the original post. Is this a geniune mistake by an enthusiastic rooke, or just spam? I do like to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but's bloody hard to tell sometimes...
That was the 'crap' I was referring to that would be banned elsewhere quick smart - I apologise that my venting was attached to your reply, but sometimes it is frustrating having to say the same thing over and over again when people should know already. Especially those who were members here when I started that thread about not mentioning other wine retailers a few years ago.

I also was questioning whether I could smell Spiced Ham(tm) the moment I saw this post, not from DM's but rather from the coupon website linked... perhaps as an attempt to get its Google rating up and make money via redirects.
That would explain the nonchalance towards DM itself and the fact that the actual retailer's site is not linked but instead a cash-for-promotions type website is linked...

Good for Aussie wine drinkers?
There is plenty of information available now as to the business aims and principles behind DMs and VCs. Behind all big box retailers.
Since I learnt about those plans, I decided to shop exclusively at places that have an actual interest in the long term development of wine-making in this country.
It's my opinion that any marketing campaign run by big box retail is ultimately detrimental.
But opinions are like arseholes - everyone has one.
I agree with Allan and N4sir that clickbait marketing nonsense will be spotted here promptly, and should be turfed.
Cheers all.
