Hi guys,

I'm escaping from the Canberra cold for a few days and want to take advantage of having a larger selection of wine/wine stores to choose from rather than my local Dan Murphy's. Can anyone suggest some wines stores in Brisbane central they'd recommend are worth a visit. Keep in mind I'll be located near Story Bridge...without a car :?

Thanks in advance :D

Cru Bar, Grant the manager is a champion...it doubles as a great restaurant too.

Cru bar, grand central cellars, malt traders. Wine store at the barracks is good too, but I can't remember it's name.

Near the Story Bridge and no car limits you a bit - Malt Traders will be the closest.

Cru Bar will be a bit of a walk to get to James St from there
Wine Emporium at Skyring Terrace would be too far to walk
Craft - on Waterworks Road at Red Hill would be out of reach as well,

Era at Southbank has a great bottle shop, and their Flight bar seems an interesting concept. 1889 Enoteca in south Brisbane has a truly outstanding wine list and apparently a wine store too, but the food is somewhat overpriced and nothing special in my experience. 5ifth Element on southbank has enomatic machines, and some interesting and expensive wines by the glass.
And in that part of town, I would be remiss not to mention the Brisbane German Club, which has lots of excellent beer, pork knuckles and cake, and a man named Andrew who does oompah versions of current pop tunes :)

Purple Palate and Grand Central Cellars in the City.

Story Bridge Hotel - Deerys Restaurant has a good cellar if you want somewhere good to eat
