I need someonne to put my mind at rest. I am currently down the South Coast and wont be back until early to mid next week.
Has anyone received their mailer yet ? Usually late Jun/ early Jul from memory, and I am freaking out that i will miss the boat !!!

Nothing in the mailbox yet in Sydney. Glad somebody got the ball rolling, was starting to think they forgot me!

Checking last years calendar my CC was charged on July 30 and I reckon it was
a week or 2 before that when i put my order in.
So i'd expect the mailer next week or the week after based on that.

Seems about right because I visited the winery last year on July 18
and they were busy boxing up wine and sending out orders.

Queenslander here and no mailer yet.

Ridiculous to have these wines suffocating in screw cap. I wonder if they will bottle mine in cork and I'd be happy to sign an indemnity against taint! I must ask.

I dunno..should prove to be interesting. Someone was saying that they haven't changed styles but the more approachable wines were just as a result of the fruit..*shrug* (2012s are very approachable). A less approachable Wendouree with screwcap...wonder when that'll be ready? Haha..

Jamie, equally, is that also your view for Hill of Grace?

I suspect that I will be drinking dozens of Wendouree's with my grandkids...but yes take your point...even in 3 decades they may not have budged an inch under screw cap.

Different style of wine so I have bought HofG under screw cap. Although I'm not convinced of this closure especially with ripe Australian wines ( Jammy blue fruits for example which I never noted in the masterful Henschke of the 80's & 90's ).

But there are some wines I think screw cap is questionable with. Barolo for example, and Wendouree.

As far as wine maker adjusts his/her wine making style/technique for screw cap, there is nothing to worry. Any wine made the correct way will age under screw cap much better than best cork in the world. But if the wine maker switches to screw cap without adjusting the wine making technique/style, result is all those wines in the market showing not so good in. It is just like CD versus vinyl. If you don't adjust your recording and mastering style in the studio do it the way you have been doing for decades and than dump the sound track on digital media, the resulting sound is not as good as the sound you get from good record players. But if you adjust your production style of the music to the digital processing in the studio and than dump it on CDs, the sound coming out of ordinary CD player will beat the heck out of sound coming out of the best record player in the world.

Being a Clare local needs some advantages especially on a awful winters day like today 4 degrees and raining, get the mailer sooner than most and have never missed on an order no matter what crayon mark I have.

Cabernet Sauvignon $50 ($50)
Cabernet Malbec $50 ($50)
Muscat $25 ($25)
Interesting to see the SMat & malbec come off in price by $5 and the SMal back into the line up.

I'm a little naive to the cork v screw cap debate.
I'm aware it's been raging for quite some time and the purists are adamant there is a difference.
Perhaps there is, but I wouldn't know at this early stage in my wine appreciation life.

The question I have is, why would wineries such as Wendouree and Grosset use a screw cap if they are known boutique wines with large, loyal customer bases.? Surely they would debate that there is no difference between the 2 closures?
Another winery in the same bracket is Rockford who are obviously hanging in there with the cork.
I've heard numerous negative stories of Rockford corks failing and their failure rate bordering on unacceptable.

I'm wondering if the aforementioned wineries using screw caps also seal with cork in some sort of long term experiment to compare down the track with the ageing of the screw cap counterparts. I wonder if Rockfords are doing the same but in reverse?

If the screw cap is eventually to be proven as a failure for long term cellaring prospects in terms of ageing
then what happens to the 10-15 year period of vintages that were sealed this way.
We will look back at the 'screw cap years' like 70's decor ask ourselves what the hell were we thinking?!?

Oldest Screw cap red I drank is Marius 2002 Shiraz, it is drinking just beautiful now in absolute balance & harmony and still has long way to go.
I have some Moss Wood CS 2001 under SC, haven't tried it yet but I am 100 % confident that it is developing gracefully.
Also got a case of 2002 Kay Bros Old Block 6 shiraz under SC and had been told buy Colin Kay (Owner/wine maker) not to touch it until 2025.

I'd love to get on this list. Is there a secret handshake I need to learn? I have called the phone number a few times with no answer. Could someone please point me in the right direction.

Tony and Lita Brady should be knighted.
How they keep their unfailing commitment to the customer leaves me gladdened with joy and largely speechless

The winery who is bringing forward their annual May release to October could take a leaf out of the Brady's book...reduction of the real price, (not the rubbish inflated meaningless RRP) by 10% in some cases!!

Already informed management that this will be a significant buy...to book end the full range of the 2008 vintage.
Richie, thought there was only 5 red releases this year...there was no straight malbec at the Langton's Adelaide tasting recently.

Peter, write a letter and be patient. Also there may be others here who might have some room in their allocations to get you a bottle or two.

Agreed 100 %, Rita & Tony are such down to earth, humble people. I visited them twice in the middle of the vintage, they were so nice to take a break and answer my endless questions and show me around, same goes for Drew Noon.

Received my mailer this arvo. Still on Red stripe and imagine so for the next decade or so.
Previously the Cabernet Sauvignon was made unavailable to me but this time it's up for grabs....
2012's here we come.

That is remarkable, to be able to offer such interesting and in demand wines at consistent or lower prices. Especially in what I understand was a good vintage for the reds as well as the whites.

I am looking forward to getting my first mailer, and hopefully actually getting some of my order!

Google the mailing address and write a nice (preferably hand-written) letter to Lita and Tony Brady asking to be put on the mailing list and then hope for the best. It worked for me last year. I hope tomorrow or Friday brings confirmation that I'm still on the list.
