Sorry I am new to this, but what does an offline involve? Are novices ok to attend?

Cheers

Anyone can attend Ads, an offline is a gathering of wine lovers, normally at a restaurant, and you bring a really good bottle (or two) of something you like, and/or want to try, and/or that fits within the stated theme (if there is one). All wine lovers should try and go to an offline or two, definitely a great way to try a wide selection of styles and have some fun banter about life and love of wine.

With regards to what you bring, the best form is to get an idea of the quality/price level that others are bringing and try to be roughly in line with that. A young $10 bottle isn't ideal form if others are bringing $50 bottles or good aged stuff from their cellars. I find interesting or unusual wines always more exciting to bring and try than 'everyday' wines, but the variety you get to try is the best part, so it's all good!

Ahhh ok, that sounds easy enough!

Would be an ideal opportunity for me to expand my palate, but cannot commit just yet. Will see what is planned for me when I get home..

I will organise a price and time tomorrow.

Looks like a small table at this stage.

I'm interested, but I also have a very busy week ahead and may not be able to fit it in. I'll let you know closer to the day.

Cheers,
Ian

I am a likely. Any news on the menu?
Will see what I can dig up. Maybe a 96 or 98 John Riddoch.

Cheers

Well, actually I was waiting on the wines so we could match the wines with the menu.. but I may just go ahead and sort out a generic menu.

Also, as per the champagne tasting at Lickerish, can I burden you with a number of wines to taste from a customer who wants to know if saleable or not (has semi-large quantities) ? I believe most will be past it but it can't hurt giving them a try:

1996 Rosemount Balmoral Syrah
1996 Rosemount Estate Roxburgh Chardonnay
1995 Rosemount Estate Roxburgh Chardonnay
1998 Wolf Blass Riesling
1997 D'Arenberg Noble Gerwurtztraminer
1994 De Bortoli Noble One Bortrytis Semillon
1996 De Bortoli Noble One Bortrytis Semillon

Count me in as a definite. No plus one, as Gail is in Perth. If there is a fish course, can you make sure that there is a replacement available?

Cheers

Mark

Sure Mark. Nick is giving us a private room and putting a menu together for us tonight.

It turns out I can't fit it in, sorry Mark. :(

Have a great time guys, I hope to catch up with you at the next one. :)
