Hello all,

Given the work industry I'm in I often need to send gifts. Often the people I send gifts to like wine so I think the most suitable gift would be a few good bottles of wine or when I am having a work related dinner with them it would be good to open a few bottles to drink together & talk about for building rapport. Just wondering if anyone have recommendations for such wines.

My thoughts for criteria are:

- preferably around the $30-60 price bracket. Not too exy as I have to stock often and have a budget.
- preferable can not buy straight from DM at release. Don't mind though if it's a few bottles here and there finding itself into DM later at marked up prices i.e good evidence for them to know they are getting a more exy wine than for what I paid for : )
- can still be ordered and shipped from the wine maker directly i.e not cellar door release only or you have to be some long time member to order
- preferably reds

I am capable of stocking these wines for 3~6 years until I need to drink/gift

I have bought a few lake folly and rifle range cabs in the past. Wines like that I guess.

While I love to drink wine myself I'm still no expert so would love to hear some thoughts/recommendations from others.

2012 Hoddles Creek 1er Pinot Noir - the bigger chains don't stock it but its easy to find and a top drop, and something they can drink right away if needed.

Good vintages of Killerby or Juniper Estate Cab Sav.

Also I know the Penfolds Bin 8 comes in a cool little box. Yeah, it's Penfolds, yeah, it's commercial, yeah, the box is just a gimmick, but hang on to them for a few years to give them some age and so that the chains don't stock them any more and maybe gift them to people who don't know that much/anything about wine. It'll look impressive, and apparently the 2012 is a decent drop.

Ya that's exactly what I thought also. Did buy a doz of the Bin 9 (being the first release). You get 2 free bottles of the Bin 2s as well. Will look into the Bin 8 and the others you have mentioned, especially the pinot

Talk to Gavin! You'd be surprised to hear what he has on the books. My experience with him has been great. Prompt service, great wine and at a competitive price.
