That sounds good. Maybe no theme, or something simple like 'riesling & cabernet'?

haha...Pinotage and Pinot Gris - I hope that you're taking the mickey Mr Webb
Something sounds wrong with the statement 'my cellar is full of verticals of pinotage'....
Thankfully it's not true.
China Plate - count me in. The menu takes us back to modern Asian. I'm okay with that.
Riesling and Cabernet - happy to do either. I have a sole bottle of Pinot Gris in my cellar and it belongs to my wife. Let me know where you guys stand.
Have any of you checked out Temporada yet? It's run by one of Ben Willis' (Aubergine) crew. Could be a good future venue for a 'grapes of Spain or the Med' tasting. We'd need to negotiate corkage but, given that they're new to the marketplace I reckon that it's something they'd be open to.
Cheers
Matt
Ps: +1 for going back for more of the Tiger Tiger from the last tasting. Sensational stuff.

You're right Matt. It would be a tasting from hell if we did Pinotage and Pinot Gris.

Went to Temporada last Tuesday. Good. Not sure how feasible negotiating BYO would be though. They did have a good list.

I've only had two pinotages and both were eminently forgettable, but I'd be more than happy to neck a couple of Alsatian pinot gris from the likes of Hugel, Trimbach, Leon Beyer, Zind Humbrecht et al.
I like the idea of no theme, just bring something special. I'll finalise the booking on the morrow.

Will bring a Kabinett of some description (possibly an AJ Adam or something of that ilk) and something else red - need to have another look at the menu
Looking forward to it.
Cheers
Matt

Nice one Matt a Kabinett will be grand, and there are a few dishes I can think of that will suit it, like the red chicken curry. I am thinking about a Hunter shiraz, possibly '05 OP&OH, but I also have a few other options in a similar mould.
Cheers

Bump...Off to NZ and then the Blue Mountains for the next couple of weeks but back in town for this. Can confirm that I can bring an AJ Adam kabinett and there's also a 99' Lakes Folly Cabernet that I'm tempted to open.
Will try and check in while I'm away.
Cheers
Matt

Have a great time and if there's anything I can do to help you come around to opening the aforementioned Lakes Folly, then you know where to find me.
Cheers

Tammy & I will be there. Might bring a bubbles of some sort to start and maybe another white, as it looks like we are sorted for reds.

Yes - I'll be there. Will bring the Lakes Folly and AJ Adam previously mentioned. Dlo's introduction of the Cab at the Beijing House do was educational for me. Could never see it matching Chinese style food but it worked for me.
Great if you can join us Redstuff. Come along if you can - there have been a heap of restaurant changes since you were last here. Look forward to meeting you.
Cheers
Matt

Sorry redstuff, I'm in the other direction.
So should I bring a red or a white?
Cheers, Travis.

Hi all,
I was pointed in this direction by Matt from the Jancis Robinson site.
I'd enjoy the opportunity to come along to one of these offlines. Unfortunately I'm busy for the next nine Thursday evenings so tomorrow's out.
A little about me. I'm trying to do as much tasting as possible in 2014 in preparation to enrolling in the WSET diploma in 2015. I have a few bottles at home and love having the opportunity to open wine with people who appreciate it. My wife isn't a wine nerd but has a pretty good palate and knows what she likes.
And I live in Gunners
Ross

Welcome Ross, great to have another Canberran on this hallowed forum.
The two off lines that we have had this year have been great fun. Good food, good people and great wines.
All the best with the WSET Diploma. I did mine in London about 12 years ago. Gulp! A fantastic experience even if I was one of only two non trade people in the class. Access to non-Aussie wines was somewhat easier, and cheaper, than from here in Oz.
Cheers, Travis.

Glad to see you made it here Ross!
Busy for the next 9 weeks you say? Work or leisure?
Happy to do something outside of Thursdays.
Cheers
Matt
PS - looking forward to tonight!

Hi Ross
It appears we may have a burgeoning Gungahlin contingent so we may have to go Northside again next time.
Looking forward to seeing everyone else tonight. From memory the glassware at the China Plate is adequate... for white wine anyway. So others are welcome to supply some glasses.
I will bring some, but I usually drink out of stemless glasses and their not everyone's cup of shiraz.

It looks like I haven't got the hang of pressing the buttons as a couple of my posts didn't make it up.
The course is (arguably) for pleasure, being yoga. I'm happy to participate any night though.

okay...surprisingly a touch dusty this morning
Another enjoyable evening in the company of likeminded people. I'll rely on others to post more informed responses....really feeling it today.
Wines consumed included:
Seppelts Drumborg Riesling 2003: probably my WOTN - love you long time - still plenty of acid and fruit - time ahead aplenty for this one
AJ Adam Hoffberg Kabinett 2011: had better bottles - seemd flat to me.
Muscat Sec Des Roumanis 'Les Petit Gimios': Almost a dessert wine but without the weight and no bot- good with deep fried crab = builds in the mouth - can't recall the vintage - Paul?
Domaine Vincent Careme: sparkling - again not sure of disgorgment date - interesting wine this one - was this the one that recalled G&Ts to mind
?
Rosemount OP&OH 05: crushed ants - yum. Didnt' strike me as typical hunter though.
Lakes Folly Cabernet 1999: nice nose but stripped, metallic - likely TCA? - disappointing
Collector Reserve Shiraz 2009: linear structure - classy - time ahead of it! I reckon this will be a corker in 5 years or so!
Looking forward to doing it all again next month - Northside next time?
Cheers
Matt
Ps - Thanks go to the Travis Taxi for getting me home

2002? I was not aware that Collector has been in business that long.
