Wine storage in Adelaide

I've got about a case of wine I'd like to store off site, as they're wines I'd like to age for a couple of years. They'd cook over summer if I left them at home.

Glen Ewin Cellars and Kennard's both seem to require me to pay for storage I wouldn't use.

The Tunnels looks good (the price is right!) but I can't find much in the way of online reviews - does anyone here use them?

Wine-Ark have a good reputation, but don't publish their prices. I signed up to the site to see if that would be enough to get hold of a price list, but apparently not. Odd. What sort of prices do they charge? $10 per case per month? $100? $1000? :?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I use The Tunnels, and can't complain, however I'm yet to actually extract anything from there so I can't comment on how the wine turns out. Service is excellent though, and the price can't be beat!

I considered wine storage off site but then thought stuff it and bought a second hand 30 bottle capacity fridge online for like 150.
I shoved a temp gauge in and it held temp really well.
Unless i had a serious amount of really long term bottles I don't think I'd bother with off site, yet others swear by it.
With a 30 -40 bottle half decent fridge you could store your long term babies then have room for a few other bits and pieces.
Of course when the bug starts to take hold, you'll need to upgrade. :P

PaulG - thanks for the reply. I'm thinking I'll go ahead and take some wines up to the Tunnels. It's going to be cooler than where I am - it's cooler inside my house than outside but was still 37°C today!

I also found this old thread which has another recommendation for the Tunnels: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11674&p=92509

Scotty vino - I don't have many wines to store -- I'm not a serious collector (I don't have the budget for that!). I do have a couple of bottles I want to keep for maybe three or four years, though, that would cook if left out at home. I've looked at wine fridges, but hadn't thought of getting one second hand. Where did you get yours?

gumtree of all places. 150 + another 20 for a temp gauge. Sold it to a mate for 100.
Still going strong.

Scotty vino - ok, thanks. I will keep an eye out and see if anything comes up on Gumtree (or eBay). I guess this might take a while, though, so I'll send some wine off to the Tunnels for the moment so they don't cook with this hot weather we're having now!

Hi penguinoid,

John here – I work for Wine Ark. Noticed your post and though I would join up to reply.

Our managed storage product in Klemzig is perfect for one case. We charge $2.75 per case per month. There is also a once off handling in fee of $0.50c per bottle. This is to grade (condition report), inventory and upload your wine to our online account. Once in your account you can sort and filter the wines and also (if you wished) sell the wine from our online sales platform. We don’t charge handling out fees. Also to note that full replacement insurance is included in that monthly case fee when in managed storage.

So for the one case you would be looking at $2.75 per month plus the once off $6 handling in (assuming 12 bottles)….

You are also able to have any other wines you buy sent directly to the account care of your account number. The wine is then added to your account, you receive an email when the case is initially added then once catalogued you receive another email with the inventory.

If you have any questions please let me know….

Hi John --
Thanks for replying here, and thanks for the email. I've already arranged storage with the Tunnels, but it's useful to know your prices in any case.
