Has anyone received the Marius mailer, poor Roger seems to be going thru extremely tough times. We should give him a hand as much as we can.

My understanding is that Roger did not make the 2011, so I don't think there will be a mailer.

Clearly a local artist and champion of his product who has fallen on remarkably tough times. I agree, we should all do what we can to support him!

I think there will be some red from Marius from 2011 vintage.
When I visited him in late August the wine was still in barrel, a lot longer than usual, but he was pretty happy with how it was going.

Maybe if he gets some cashflow he can bottle and label a red or two.

McLaren vale reds from 2011 in many cases have fared a lot better than Barossa.

After reading here regarding the possibility of no 2011 release i dropped Roger an email.
His reply was that, 'No, there will be a 2011 release.'
So hopefully all will be well.

I'm really shocked and saddened to read this. :(

Can anyone (Roger?) go into a little more detail here as to what's gone wrong? :?

Finally, I agree with all the earlier comments we should all support Roger as much as we can to get him through this. The industry needs people as passionate as him around, wine consumers/enthusiasts like us even more so.

Cheers,
Ian

Yes, he also replied to an email I sent him stating there would be a 2011 release but it wont be released until 2014.

I didnt receive his other email as I'm still on the waiting list, so if anyone can elaborate on what's been happening I'd be interested.

Every wine of his I've had has been excellent.

Thanks

It may sound a little bit 'baby-sitters club', but would perhaps a Marius themed offline of the vintages he has available be a reasonable way to kick in a bit of support?

There are only two wines available, the Symposium Shiraz Mataro 2010 and Matarius Mataro 2010 and not a huge amount of them.

Briefly, Roger has been going through a extended nasty divorce process (not finalised yet, but looking more hopeful) and then contracted septicemia, came close to death. He has a fair way to go to get back to full health, but hopefully will get there without any setbacks.

The fact that we can help someone by purchasing another case of sublimely good wine is one of life's true oddities!
I haven't tried his 2010s as yet, still very happily browsing through 06/07, every one a winner.
Get well soon Roge!

Thanks for all the support and good wishes.

It has been a very tough year in terms of my health and I still have a way to go to but I am still here and aiming to do what I do for a long time,

Roll on the 2014 vintage!

Again, many thanks.

Roger

Hope all goes well Roger.

Maybe we can organise an auswine forum harvest team for 2014!

After reading this thread I tried to source some 2010 Symphony - couldn't find any anywhere. It got quite a write up. Roger emailed me to say it went in 4 weeks. Testament to a hell of a wine. Any good natured Brissie forumites coming to the next offline have any to try?

Hi Luke

I have half a dozen of the 2010 and still have multiple bottles of the other vintages (2008, 2007, 2005 and 2004 - there was no Symphony in 2009 or 2006).

Happy to bring one to the next offline, but I can't make this one.

Cheers

Michael

I just got an email this morning telling me I am now on the mailing list... Roger has released a 2011 Sympatico and 2011 Symphony... needless to say I have placed an order on the strength of the many positive reviews his wines have received on here over time.

I am breaking my plan to avoid 2011 red's in favour of saving money to buy the 2010s and in particular the 2012s, but oh well.

Thanks Michael

I'll look forward to it somewhere down the track.....

Early reports from those who have tasted are very positive indeed. And that is despite the wine just being bottled. As always, these wines look like they will be amazing value for the lucky few.
