A little late on this.Wednesday 09 October 2013.
Under the Wine Selectors umbrella a short showing of 4 grape varieties namely Riesling, Semillon, Cabernet and of course Shiraz.

Riesling: 2012 Portrait EV Dry Riesling
2012 Hill & Valley EV Riesling
2007 Wigan EV Riesling
2002 Wigan EV Reserve Riesling
Semillon: 2012 Hill & Valley Semillon
2010 Art n Soul Semillon
2007 Margaret Semillon
2003 Margaret Semillon
Cabernet: 2010 Hill & Valley Barossa Cabernet
2009 Mentor Cabernet blend
2009 VSV Ruediger Cabernet
2001 Mentor Cabernet blend
Shiraz: 2010 Hill & Valley Barossa Shiraz
2009 VSV 1885 Shiraz
2008 Stonewell Shiraz
2007 Stonewell Shiraz

A well run event. 1.5 - 2hrs just enough time to get around. Peter Lehmann staff were excellent in their generosity of pours and friendly informative manner.
Peter Kelly winemaker showed real interest in getting around and relating.
$20 for such an event is a bargain.

Wines: I found all the H & V range to be very good for around the $20 mark. No bad wines among them really.
The 2002 Riesling was lovely but should be for $42
The 2007 Margaret Semillon was superior to the 03. Much more open and expressive.
Pick of the Cab's for me was the Ruediger. 01 Mentor was a bit bland.
Pick of the Shiraz's and WOTN for me was definately the VSV. It was singing and far more impressive than the 08 Stonewell. The 07 Stonewell wasn't that impressive.

Hi Ross, thanks for the notes.
I was not aware of a 2002 Wigan EV reserve riesling

I have a 6 pack of the PL reserve riesling and thought the change to the first Wigan was for the 2003 vintage.

Can you please confirm.
Label for the PL 2002 was small gold writing on a white background.

Cheers
Craig.

I also attended that event. Pretty good value for all those wines and only $20 with decent cheese.
The 01 Mentor had the tobacco leaf and earthy flavours going that I liked. WOTN was also the 2009 VSV 1885 Shiraz. I got lots of choc mint. The 08 wasn't too shabby and the 07 like you noted, was nothing to write home about.
Price list was a little high for pretty much all of the wines.

Craig to be honest i am not really sure. I certainly don't pay quite as much attention to the whites.
Small gold writing on white doesn't ring a bell though.

The 2010 VSV 1885 is a very good wine also.

Yes inaugural vintage of the Wigan was indeed the 2003.
Cheers Craig.

Like the Lawson's you love so much brett - you are a mint choc freak!

Cheers
