2001 D'Arenberg Laughing Magpie Shiraz

I think in switching to the new system, I'm going to also switch my rating to the TORB scale. At least, I'll try it for awhile. I've noticed too many of my notes have a compressed 85-95 pt range.
Anyway:
D'Arenberg Laughing Magpie (McLaren Vale) - dark dense purple with a hint of reddening. Nice aromatics of blackberries, earth, blueberries and apricots. The apricot element seemed less to me than the '00, with more tannic power in this wine. Excellent, rich flavors similar to the nose, with a good length (30 seconds), tannic finish. Rated as Highly Recommended (**** for value).
