Stanley Bros John Hancock Signature - had this a few times and the wine is starting to improve. Sweet oak and caramel nose. On the palate, there is some typical Barossa fruit - plums, chocolate, berry, and the once overwhelming tannins have begun to soften. Mind you they will need to keep heading down that track for the wine to achieve its potential. Decent length, but the structure worries me.

Wolf Blass Brown Label - I expected a vanilla milkshake on the nose, and was surprised that the oak was not that evident. It was still obvious, but not as overt as other WB labels I have had recently. Slightly spicy, yet sweet palate. I imagine this wine would be a bit of a crowd pleaser. Overall, quite enjoyable.

Penfolds St Henri - thought I would check out a 375ml "throwdown". I was quite surprised with how developed this wine seemed, both on the nose and palate. Earth and leather dominated, and in fact reminded me of the 1988 I had recently. I hope this was a dud bottle, as I was totally underwhelmed, especially as this is one of my favourite labels.
