My Weekly tasting in brief..

Tasted quite a few for a new wine list and some from my cellar to see how things were developing.
Jeaneret Clare Valley Riesling '03.
A tad dissapointed in this considering the big rap it's had, not a badly made wine, but lacking zestiness and zing and with some residual sugar, too sweet for my lacking.
Delatite Pinot Grigio '03
A simple very dry style of this wine that on it's own on a hot day would be great. O.K.
Stumpy Gully Pinot Grigio '03.
Still one of the best of this style for my palate with ample fruit weight and mouthfeel, good fruit. A wine that never ceases to please all those I've served it to. (Up there with the great Hoddles Creek Yarra Valley Pinot Grigio).
D'Areneberg Galvo Gararge Cab/Merlot '02.
Good rich nose, as is the front front and middle palate, ample weight, a tad short on the finish. drinking well now, a good food wine.
Plantaganet Shiraz '99.
Evolving well, already quite seamless, very well made wine, smooth as a baby's bottom. Looking forward to this in another couple of years if it rates anything like the magnificent '94 I tried earlier last year.
Frankland Estate "Isolation Ridge" Cab sauv '00.
Drinking well, nothing out of place, very enjoyable.
Main Ridge Estate 1/2 Acre Pinot Noir '99.
well, sometimes youv'e got to eat humble pie. I have never been a big supporter of Peninsula Pinot, but if someone is going to make a good one, this guy is. All little hot due to the 14% alcohol, but a rich, sweet, complex nose that follows on to the palate with an unforced sweetness, great length and complexity. A sexy, wine thinkers wine! Drinking superbly and probably close to it's best.
Mount Langi Ghiran "Langi" shiraz '95.
Take the phone off the hook, divert all mobile calls, close the blinds and lock the doors. Make sure no-one is going to interupt you on this selfish, greedy journey as you slowly devour the whole bottle! This was something special.
Huge "rotten meat" savoury nose that these wines get with age that promises something very diferent. Big barnyardy, dark plum palate that goes on forever with liquorice thrown in. Glorious! And I've got more in my cellar!
