Buller & Sons Tokay Victoria

Has anyone had this? I am doing an Aussie dinner at the wine store I work at and this is a new dessert wine just in. Any good? I am matching it with lemon tart. Thanks - Rick :?:

If it's an ordinary fortified tokay, it's probably just fine. With lemon tart, though, I'd prefer a standard botrytis rather than a fortified. The tokay would be a better match with wintery desserts like puddings or chocolate.

Agreed, can't imagine it with a Lemon tart.

I think something like a Chambers Botrytis Tokay (non-fortified) would probably work well with a lemon tart. Or any other botrytis, really.

The dessert is Lemon Tart with Almond Shortbread Crust and Raspberry Puree. As you can see a bit of everything. I would love to do Dutske (sp?)

Try Campbell's liquid gold tokay. Its relatively more elegant and have more acidity than other tokays.

Having said that, I would take a desert wine of riesling any day..

I guess none of us have really answered your original question!

Bullers Tokay c $20 is a bit boring. For a tokay at that mark the Baileys Founder is much better. I finished a bottle of the Bullers this week - their muscat at this price is great value so was disappointed in the tokay.

Nevertheless wouldn't serve with lemon tart. Sounds like a good opportunity for Noble One or similar. Often do muscat or tokay with dessert in our house because chocolate or sticky toffee often seem to get in the mix and these two overwhelm everything except muscat and tokay.

It was very nice. Noble 1 would be perfect except it is now $55 Candian for a half bottle. So $100 vs $28 for the Buller. We sold every bottle of the Buller we had (6) after the dinner so it must have gone o.k. withthe lemon tart. Thanks for all the comments. Rick
