:
3 x 2011 Isabella Chardonnay (Interesting that this is first screwcap vintage, other reds remain corked)
3 x 2010 Amelia Cabernet Sauvignon MerlotWasn't prepared to to pay $115 for their
Hannah Cabernet Franc Merlot, I am sure I could use that $115 of something better and better valued. Anyone here brought this in past or tasted, any comment worth forking out that price?

Couldn't resist a mixed box of Head wines from Gavin:
3 Head Red 2011
2 Head Contrarian 2011
1 Head Grenache 2011
I just love Alex's wines...(hopefully) even in off years. Actually, although there is a lot of dross out there, I have found quite a few 2011's I like. When well made, I am enjoying the lightness and freshness.
6 x Seppelt drumborg Riesling 2011

6 x Bests Great Western Riesling 2012. New winemaker this vintage which ripened earlier so was picked earlier according the winery rep who called. I loved the 2011, bought 15 bottles, have one left, so this vintage should be interesting. Free freight to NQ swayed me.

Mum was visiting for the long weekend, so brought her on a trip around some Canberra wineries. Tastings at Mount Majura, Shaw, Helm and Clonakilla, lunch at Flint. Some wonderful food and wine!
I was designated driver, so not much tasting, but managed to buy one of:
Helm Premium riesling
Helm Premium cabernet
Clonakilla riesling
Clonakilla O'Riada shiraz viognier
Was very impressed by my first visit to Helm, and we timed each visit just right, getting the winemaker / staff all to ourselves before large groups arrived as we finished.
One thing, my O'Riada was low on fill, and when I sent a photo, they kindly posted me a replacement at their expense without question. Excellent service!!

Chalice Bridge MR Shiraz Cabernet 2008 x 6, $84.44 delivered. Can't find a TN of this vintage but on TWC the 2007 rated 95pts/Special Value.I suspect the 2008, even though a very good vintage in MR, is likely to not be of the same standard. Still, I don't recall tasting any MR shiraz/cab blends so it could be interesting.

Another casualty of the crunch hitting the industry Aldgate Ridge in the Adelaide Hills is closing down with prices to match. Bought a case of the 2006 Pinot and 2006 Pinot Chardonnay. There's plenty left if you want some nice wines. They have Pinots from 2003-2006, some nice rose, sav blanc and sparkling all with good bottle age.
From auction:
3 x Forester Estate 2004 MR Cabernet
4 X Forester Estate 2003 MR Cabernet
6 x Barossa Valley Estate 2010 E Bass Eden Valley Riesling. Vey nice
2 x Jamiesons Run 2002 McShanes Block Coonwarra Shiraz
2 x Jamiesons Run 2002 O'Dea's Block Coonwawarra Cabernet
8 x Yalumba Galway Pipe. All old bottlings with 4 measured in pints and fluid oz from a time (1960's) when ports were a well respected premium product. Levels were pretty good showing they were well cellared.
A mixed case of recent vintage chardies for the coming summer months
Earned a smack from SWMBO but like the dog that gets the same treatment when he gets into the garbage its worth it.

Hi Damon,
Currently have 2 bottles of this waiting for a proper tasting (in a few years). Tasted it last year when we picked it up, but (like all 'cool-climate tasting' reds) I wasn't sure how it would go. I figured I'd try it just this once. I wasn't keen on it just fresh from the bottle, but it may pick up some depth in the 5 years I'm going to give it. If it does surprise me, then I might try getting some more. Normally I wouldn't buy anything for this price unless someone has aged it for me first - we picked up a 2005 Oracle Shiraz from Kilikanoon for $100 (for example).
The one thing on their list that I should have recommended (but that we aren't buying - there is a limit of 2 and we bought too much in SA to justify a case of 6 wines from WE) was the fortified Chardonnay (Rattafia?). A real gem and quite unlike almost anything else I have ever tasted. I would have got 2,but not with anything else for this year. My wine budget has been curtailed for the year!

Thanks S, hope it approaches the 07 in quality. The price was $11.99/btl + $12.50 freight, very happy with the price, not so the freight that's recently jumped from $7. I'll post a TN after the wine arrives.
Cheers

Mmm, I don't know if I liked it better than the flagship, but much better value! Actually the flagship was the only wine I had a proper tasting glass of, but I prefer the previous vintage. The '11 SV had an almost herbal-ness to it (rosemary and thyme) plenty of definition and length, but not quite enough richness to hold my interest all the way.

Another local winery trip with a group of friends. Again the designated driver (12 seater bus this time!), so hardly any tasting, but purchased:
Gallagher Sparkling Duet
Gallagher Shiraz
Gallagher Riesling
Yarrh Shiraz
Yarrh Shiraz Cabernet (surprised at how nice this was at the $20 cellar door price)
Dionysus Late Harvest Riesling
Never visited these before, Yarrh is such a beautiful spot, had a very pleasant picnic lunch there.

Anyone here tasted/heard/whatever about the 2007 TAHBILK 'ERIC STEVENS PURBRICK' CABERNET SAUVIGNON???
Looks like gonna be similar to the 2003 and 2005 Vintages or what?

Good move! I bought four, three left so can attest to it being a seriously excellent wine, especially for $20-$22.

6 x Bests Bin 1 2011 Shiraz - Just took out the Jimmy Watson. The 2010 is a great drop too so will be interesting to see the comparison between the two
4 x 2009 Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz - got on the bandwagon as well and grabbed the last 4 - too many good reports not to grab some.
