Got any favourites for consistent quality (year in year out) for under the $20 RRP?

Mine are:

Red -
Majella The Musician Cab Shiraz

White -
Nick O'Leary Riesling
Mount Pleasant Elizabeth Semillon

Any recommendations?

I've seen it available at just under $20, so for me the best red is Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz 2009 even if I did pay about $2 more - it's a wine that about when you're halfway through the first glass, you can't help thinking, **** that's good. It just pips Forest Hill Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 that can also be found for just under $20. I'll back Ringbolt cab as a good'un. O'Leary Walker Shiraz (Clare/McLaren Vale blend) is good. Thorn Clarke Shotfire Ridge Quartage is generally very good as is Teusner Riebke. Tin Shed Melting Pot is another that's worth checking out. Oh yeah, Dominic Torzi makes some good <$20 reds too. Haven't checked out what Rory Lane's offered but his Grampians shiraz was $20/btl a few vintages ago. Ummmm, is that enough for now?

There are plenty of >$20 rieslings around, Tim Adams amongst them but Bests 2011 that I've seen scrape in >$20, completely seduced me with it's varietal juiciness that could be called off-dry, may no longer be available anywhere after Halliday rated it 97pts after I first bought and tried it and bought more - think there's only one bottle left to see how it ages. Hoddles Creek Chardonnay is a bit of a no-brainer but Coldstream Hills is another Yarra goodie can occasionally be found for just under $20. I've bought Stonier chard for about $20 in the past and it can be very good. Again, Forest Hill Vineyards estate range that includes chardonnay and riesling are able to be found for ~$20.

Cliff edge me goods, love it and this year I got cases of the 07 for a great price, think Gavin has the recent release for under 20 bucks.
Bests 2011 is superb, love it..in fact I'd echo all of your white tips daz.

Wynns Black Label usually dips to $20 and I buy when it does. Wine by Brad Cabernet Merlot is great QPR. Yalumba Cigar, Scribbler and Patchwork are all worthwhile wines in that price range. For track record you can't go past Tahbilk.

Too many to choose from in sub-$20 whites. Jim Barry, Pewsey Vale are regularly good, and the Ad Hoc Wallflower (by Larry Cherubino) was great in 2011. Many WA SSB and SBS blends are crackers in the price range. Again, Wine by Brad SSB is excellent. Another vote for Stonier in the Chardonnay department, and Seppelt Jaluka. Oh and of course just about any Pinot Gris/Grigio is brilliant value with fantastic flavour for the $$$$ (not).

Cheers

Michael

I forgot to mention St Hallett Faith Shiraz. The 2010 is very good, I've seen it discounted to $15 or $16 recently.

Haven't tried the Woodcutters nor Pirathon and it's some time since I last had the Uncut and Gramps. I'd probably prefer the Uncut over Gramps because the latter is similarly priced to St Hallett Faith which is also a Barossan and a personal favourite. MP Cab is a favourite quaffer for $12-$13.

But for interest Brokenback is great as is Story if you can find it ( and Head Red)
Hoddles creek all great
Pewsey vale always great vfm but a lot of other Riesling is too
Personally thing vasse Felix and forester Chardonnay are great
Also think predictive text is not so!

Two that have not been mentioned:
Turner's Crossing shiraz viognier and Turners Crossing Cabernet. Nice cool climate wines. Available for 15-20 bucks and go well in the cellar for up to 10 years too.

I've mentioned Teusner Riebke and although I haven't tried it, suspect The Independent Shiraz Mataro is very good too. Has anyone tried the latter? I also mentioned Dominic Torzi but not his and Tim Freeland's label names of Old Plains/Longhop, the latter that of some very good value <$20 reds from the Adelaide Plains. There's also Torzi Matthews based in Eden Valley, their Schist Rock wines <$20.

Good call on the Turners Crossing Shiraz Viognier.
I have a few bottles of Teusner Independent in a cold dark place but haven't opened any yet. Good friend who can be picky said it was very good when he tried a couple of weeks back.
Hoddles Creek - yes
Brokenback - yep, hard to beat for value.
And another - Forest Hill - Estate Shiraz or Cab. Opened a bottle of 2005 Shiraz last night which I picked up from DM about 3 years back and it was drinking superbly, very sophisticated, lots of secondary tobacco and cut wood aromas, long finish. Not always easy to find. For me a much nicer wine than the 2005 Black Label finished prior.
