Giacondas Numbered Bottles

I have recently renovated my house and have a new wine cellar/room. As a result I was fosicking around some boxes and moving bottles around. I stuck my head into the recently delivered 2010 Giacondas. A couple of observations were;
1) The Pinot bottles were not numbered
2) The Chardy was numbered
3) One of my 2 bottles of Warner Shiraz was numbered (5068) The other was numbered 0000.

This posses the question, did I receive the first in the bottling run (prior to 0001) or is this a typo or were there a series of bottles numbered 0000 for staff and friends and the like?

Do I have a special collectors bottle numbered 0000. I would be interested to hear of any opinions.

It depends on how many other bottles are numbered 0000.

The line operator probably didn't set the bottle numberer until the first couple of thousand had gone through...... just kidding. No idea.

Interesting that the bottle numbers are so far apart. Did you get them in different states?

Cheers

Michael

Quick question. Are the bottles numbered or are the labels numbered?

Just got this reply from Russell Branton at Giaconda. And Lorraine the numbers are on the label and not etched into the glass.

Hi Kent

The Chardonnay and Warner Shiraz bottles have numbered labels, the Pinot Noir does not. The labels are numbered as part of the printing process and the 0000 numbers are at the start and end of every roll of labels. This allows us to feed the labels through the labelling machine and not use any labels with actual numbers. What would have happened with your 0000 bottle is that it has gone through the labeller, probably at the end of a roll and not noticed by the operator or packer. So maybe you could say you have a collectors bottle, however it's possible there could be another one.
