Hi All

As a fan of the Wynns Black label cab sav did anyone watch the Wynnsday masterclass online last year? I have signed up at http://www.wynns.com.au/ to watch tomorrow and hoping to win the new black label shiraz (fingers crossed its as good as the Cab Sav), but would love some advice on the masterclass?

I'm staggered at their RRP for Michael Shiraz, and John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon - $129.99

Jeez haven't they shot up in the past few short years!? I'm pretty sure they were about half that price or less some 5-6 years ago.

Reminds me of another winery named Penfolds.... wouldn't it be funny if they turned out to be owned by the same company? Oh...

"3 Continents. 54 brands. 11,000 hectares"..."but just one crazy new premium pricing policy"

I picked up some JR for $79.99 last year.

But they already did this in the past.
The 98/99 vintages of JR & Michael were up around $90, but not selling.
So they cut the price back to $50-ish, which was the price level the secondary market was supporting at the time.
When they relaunched the wines with the 2003 vintage they've started the whole cycle again.

cheers,

Hi all, am I missing something here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :? :?

I have just watched a 12 minute clip of Deborah Hutton host a Wynnsday master-class. Must be the wrong master-class that I was going to sign up to.
This was nothing more than 12 minutes of spin, heavily edited, done earlier in the day, so would be very interested if anyone participated in the repeat/real master-class for the punters who actually buy the wines at 8PM AEST on August 1. Hopefully it was hosted by Sue.

I have nothing against Deborah Hutton, looks like a lovely lady, but the fee TWE paid here was completely wasted.
Clearly she was put on the spot, a heavily scripted predictable spiel, where the "experts" were cut off after their 2 second grab time and time again.
If I see another look at moi head tossing moment then I'll puke. Clearly she needs some lessons on pronunciation, sau-vig-non NOT "sawveeion"
George Negus she aint!

If these types of questionable marketing activities and spin are to continue get someone who knows the wines.
I nearly choked on my cornflakes when I was listening to the begging pitch relating to " the pleas for BL" so they can have their precious 60 year BL vertical.
This was laughable and embarrassing, and JH's face was not in picture at the time but I bet he would have been rolling his eyes.

After this disaster, Wynns Coonawarra Estate needs to get back to grass roots.

Moira, will there be any clip of what the wine buyers around Australia had to say at "their" master class?
Where were the tasting notes, the robust discussion and comments about the wines, there wasn't any conversation pertaining to this.
This is what the punters are after.
One of Mark Wickham's thoughtful video tasting notes gives more information than this.

Cheers
Craig.

I am saying something nice and constructive, the host was put on the spot, clearly it has been heavily edited, and the opportunity to get meaningful comment about the wines was largely lost. I really appreciate hearing comments from JH, JO and Sue, but really where were they?

Actually who cares, I have tasted all the wines, will be buying them all, am willing do my own master class.

Expectation can be a dangerous thing, just ask a Carlton supporter (of which I am one).

Cheers Craig.

Thought the 2011 white label shiraz continues the good form, in a noted poor vintage. DMs price matched so $11pb not too bad.

Craig.
