Apologies for being off the air for the last 6 weeks or so.

I will be in the Hunter next weekend, and I am looking for dining suggestions - lunch and dinner. It doesn't have to be in a winery (although for me that helps). All suggestions appreciated.

I would especially like some opinions of Elizabeth's at Mount Pleasant, although I am not enamoured of where they are taking the namesake wine.

I ate at an organized luncheon at Elizabeth's about 12 months ago with a tasting group I'm part of. Whilst the experience overall was good, I wouldn't go out of my way for the food. It was good, but nothing special.
I haven't eaten at Bistro Molines, but that'd be close to the most "hatted" restaurant in the valley. You'll need to book. It books out weeks and weeks in advance.
There's a nice restaurant at Bimbadgen, and another at a joint that used to be called Casuarina Estate called "Emerson's"

The Verandah at Calais Estate is extremely good. We had a very long lunch there, enjoying it so much we skipped the remaining wineries for the rest of the day.

Bistro Molines does have an actual SMH hat but it gets mixed reviews. I agree that Elizabeth's is nothing you would go out of your way for.

I can recommend Muse Dining at Hungerford Hill. Very nice dining room, excellent food. I think that's hatted, too.
