Hi all, thinking of going across to Heahcote on weekend any rec's for celler doors or must see's. Also somewhere good to go for lunch.
I think theres quite a few winery's without celler doors but can still make an appointment.
I would like to visit jasper hill, flynns, and Shelmerdine but thats all thats on the list at moment.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Trev

Haven't been there for ages but other ones I went to were Mcivor Estate (near shelmerdine), Munari and Downing Estate. All pretty good. Went to Flynns as well - they seemed to be one of very few places that had a restaurant (it looked quite nice but we didn't end up eating there) - I think Shelmerdine had a restaurant as well.
Don't think Jasper Hill have a cellar door - you might need to ring them.
Other things I can think of:
- There is a good wine store that was on the main road (I think High Street) that I remembered had quite a good tasting when I was there on a weekend.
- I think Heathcote Estate now has a cellar door which was not there when I went (think on main road) - that would be one I would want to visit if up there
- Heatchote Winery is also on the main road (they weren't bad)
- If I was coming from Melbourne (in case you are) I would take the drive via Lancefield and go to Curly Flat (would double check they are open) - very good winery and they may happen to randomly show you some of the winery

Not sure if they have a cellar door, but I have been loving
Vinea Marson Syrah (05 was a standout - Mario is an ex Mt Mary winemaker)

I have only had one bottle of their Springflat Shiraz, but Wild Duck Creek seems to be very popular
