Adelaide Fine Dining / Classy Places to eat ???

I am looking for any suggestions for a 'nice' place to eat for a sunday lunch in and around Adelaide. Budget is not an issue. I am looking for high quality food, service & wine.

Magill Estate is what we are looking at , but reports are "hit & miss" at the moment.

The occasion is for a 40th, for a very well seasoned traveller; who has eaten at some of the best places throughout the world.

We are looking for something to impress. Honestly, I am out of touch of what is about town, google searches don't really give me anything.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!!

Hey Matt
For Sunday lunch I'd probably go with Bridgewater Mill.
Cheers

Hi Nick, if you are prepared to travel the Victory at Sellicks Hill or Fino at Willunga are great options.
We had lunch at the Victory a couple of weeks ago and asked for the window table. Our UK guests were blown away.
Can not understand for the life of me, even if your budget matches Bill Gates wallet, why you would drink expensive overblown Penfolds at Magill Estate.
The hundreds you will save can be spent on a myriad of magnificent wines that Doug Govans has in the cellar.

Cheers Craig.

I second the Victory at Sellicks Hill.
Nearer the city, The Manse is a silver service old favourite in Nth Adelaide. Chianti Classico is another I would recommend.
Havent been in years but for something with a quintessentially adelaide river torrens touch perhaps red ochre or jolly's boat house?

I'll put my oar in for The Victory.. but then take it out again for Red Ochre (last time I went there I was underwhelmed, although nice views of the Torrens).

Ditto that. A pleasure for the loooooong lunch. Grea wines and back vintages to boot. Leave the cars there and catch a taxi home. Pick up the cars the next day.

Vincenzo's is a reasonable choice www.vincenzoscucinavera.com.au , not fussed with the dessert on the night
enjoyed Regattas, http://www.adelaidecc.com.au/regattas
my pick would be Auge, fantastic meal and people who care http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/336/1350035 ... e-Adelaide
hope this helps

cheers

Vincenzos for me. You'll get the Gourmet Traveller best front of house nationwide and eat at (according to the Weekend Australian) one of the "50 Hottest Places to Eat in Australia". Had dinner there last Saturday for my birthday. From the salumi, to the pasta with rabbit, to the lamb rack, wagyu beef and tuna it was all top notch.

Haven't been for quite a while but Windy Point is usually pretty good.

rooview wrote:Errr...There is nothing classy or fine dining about The Victory. It is a nicer than usual pub with a good vibe, and winelist and view.

Ribeye, beautifully cooked, chilli mussels that had you wanting to lick the bowl, lemon curd tart, chocolate torte, Riedel glassware, decanted wines, 97 Seppelts great western shiraz, 98 YY Underhill, both well under $100, very friendly attentive staff who knew what they were doing with out the pretentious attitude that you get in so many other adelaide places and enough money left over to do it all again without waiting for the pain of the next credit card statement .....yeah just another ordinary pub
