Moving cellar from Canberra to Melbourne

Hi folks, just joined up, so be gentle!

I need to move my modest cellar (about 14 doz after some selling and serious drinking/pruning) from under the house to the Abbotsford (Vic) Kennards. Can anyone advise of a reliable freight service that will get it there in one piece? I need to do it soon before the weather heats up. (No refigerated transport providers here in Canberra).

Thanks in advance

Hi Ctrunfree,

I moved my wine from Adelaide to Brisbane a few years back and had similar trouble trying to find a specialist transport company. I ended up boxing all the wine myself and shrink wrapping it on pallets and sending it with a regular trucking company who ran between Adelaide and Brissy direct. Biggest headache for me was moving the pallets from the house to the trucking company, but for smaller quantities you could always take a roll of shrink wrap and package it all on a pallet at the company's depot. Like you I moved in the cooler months. After 3 anxious days the previous cargo arrived safe and sound and I moved it by trailer to its new home. Good Luck. Cheers Gerry

I have used these people a couple of times with no problems (however not cartons/pallets of wine)

http://transdirect.com.au/

Also i know Australia Post do a specific wine delivery service as most of the deliveries I have received are from them:

I know Tahbilk use Star Track Express- http://www.startrackexpress.com.au/

Hope that helps a little.
