Hi all,
Haven't posted in a while but wanted to say what a fantastic effort by Cadel in le tour. Tonights it's time to crack one of your most special wines from the cellar to celebrate this momentous occasion. For me it will be a bottle of Krug MV that I have had stached away for some time. Let us know what everyone else will be drinking.
Cheers
Jester
P.S. Surely I haven't too early on this but still a little nervous!!

Congratulations to Cadel on a brilliant ride - hopefully tonight will be the usual formality and he's achieved a monumental victory after years of heartbreak.
I've got a bottle of NV Moët that's been sitting in the fridge for months, waiting for an occasion - this seems a good enough one to finally pop it.
Cheers,
Ian

LOL, had the remains of a white cooking wine but only because it was open. Up watching history unfold but not with anything in my hand. Working while watching unfortunately. But stupendous effort by Cadel. He's done himself and his country proud.

To be honest, anything of quality would have been wasted on me by last night and I was too focused on the race to really care.
Four hours on a spin bike on Friday night 'climbing' alongside the peloton on the Galibier and Alpe D-Huez in front of a big screen followed by the little tacker with a belly ache that kept us both up until 4am, then two more 2.30am efforts... Wouldn't have missed it for the world.
He was on awesome form from the word go and rode an incredibly smart race with a fantastic team behind him, most of the efforts of which don't make it to TV. The massive group hug on the Champs-Elysees said it all though and I don't think I've seen a team as close or as elated.
To see him standing on the podium with Tina singing the national anthem was just the icing on the cake.
Will reassess the celebration options after a bit of sleep.. Wow, what a ride!

OK, I'm no cycling fan and have only an extremely limited stock of Aussie wine in the cellar, but seemed like a good excuse
to pull one out in anticipation of the pending victory for last nights dinner:
1996 Penfolds Bin 407 In very good space, excellent drinking with the Lamb rib roast, (and all the roast veg of course).
Pulled cork 90mins before serving, but once in the glass and sloshed around really added weight and fruit. Very very good, good.
No rush if you have some, based on this bottle, another 10years no problem.
cheers jafa.

Sounds like you really enjoyed it - maybe you should have more than "
...an extremely limited stock of Aussie wine..."
