Hi there everyone

Just purchased a few wines at an auction where the proceeds all went to a worthy optometry fund to give sight to the poor. Wouldn't mind any opinions on some of the wine I bought and advice on drinking. All wines were from a reputable private cellar whose conditions I understand were very good.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

I reckon you could have an interesting weekend with a few mates and a BBQ. Red meat in a bun, and apply the top-end spanner to one each of the 2001 or earlier wines, until you find something that is too young. I don't think you will, so enjoy them now for what they are.

Nice bit of buying, if you're lucky with corks, you'll have some beauties to enjoy.
In particular the Henschke wines. One forum member 'redwine' regularly drinks the wines most of us either dream of or save for v special occasions. Last year he called out a 85 Keyneton as the best wine he's ever drunk. He then had a second bottle and that met his high expectations.
Given 85 was not exactly the vintage of the decade, i'll be very interested to know how your bottles drink.

Hi Chad, a really nice opportunity for a Henschke vertical there.
Give them about an hour in the decanter, then in a big glass and enjoy.
