Suggestion for Barossa special/different....

Going through Barossa on Friday and have about 2 hours to spare and would like suggestions on the following
1. winery not on the usual list of places to visit that is either producing something interesting, special or QPR.
2. A wine that I could buy to take in to inlaws for a special announcement.

my usual suspects.....
Rusden - Sandscrub if you can afford it, otherwise Boundaries, Chookshed & Full circle are quite interesting
Hentley Farm - Clos otto, Beauty, Beast...
Torbreck - the lot....
Two hands - the lot....
Taste Eden Valley - Radford, Flaxman
usually i'll find something special on 1st 4 then QPR on the last one......

Sparkling shiraz for the announcement
Melton would be the easiest to source. Rockford if you can get it. For something different how about Teusner's sparkling shiraz? They also do some lovely reds as well.

Rockford normally releases the BP to the public in March, so they may have it for tasting

I'd head to the Artisans of the Barossa Cellar Door in Tanunda...bound to have something interesting on.

Ive got the secret handshake/wink/password for Rockford so have them on hand and a couple of the "party" dont like sparkling (gosh whats wrong with them I ask) so would be leaning towards something completely different or a good shiraz/cab from a performing small producer.

Personally I'd drop by Gibson's. I loved the 05 Isabelle bdx blend at $25. Not a huge fan of the whites but most of the reds are great wines at a good QPR. Also they are a little more earthy and interesting than the run of the mill big Barossan's. The owner (I forget his name) is a really great fella as well. We rocked up just before they were due to shut and after a friendly chat and laugh he locked the doors cracked a bottle or 2 that weren't on tasting and drank with us.
Must get back there actually.

Go see Malcom Seppelt at Gnardenfrie on the way in to Seppeltsfield.
He's a gem and so are his wines.
