Brisbane Offline - Urbane

Urbane in Brisbane are currently doing BYO on Tuesday nights, had a chat with the somm whilst I was there and they are open to us holding an offline.
Just gauging interest at the moment but who would be keen?
We could either do a set menu with matched wines, or go a la carte and perhaps theme the wine around the style of food. I think the latter would be easier for us to pull off, perhaps a Pinot night with maybe a chardy or two to start us off. The food tends to be quite delicate so would probably avoid blockbusters.
Possible challenges -
May need to do an upfront deposit but I'm hoping we can avoid this
They don't like leaving wine on the table so they would pour for us
Would have to be a Tuesday night - at this stage I'm thinking 12th or 19th of April

Kellee and I would be very keen. Although the 12th and 19th both don't fit (I'm away). The 5th is perfect though, Kellee and I are both on holidays that week.

5th is a possability, I'm on call but should be able to get someone to do that night for me.
Also the 29th March could be a possability.

I hope it works out for you, and I hate to be a killjoy. I'd have to say the service there is the worst I've experienced at any restaurant.... ever (and that includes McDonalds !). With a bad attitude to add insult to injury.

Sorry to hear that, they must have had an off night. I've always found their service to be top notch.
Sounds like the 29th of March is shaping up well for this - I'll contact them next week and start to put some details together.

Sounds like a story there Mike - do share!!
I am a maybe at this stage. I will confess that I have not a single Pinot Noir in my collection. I tried a dozen or so different Pinots a couple of years back, but at my pricepoint (around or preferably under $30) there were only a couple I liked. I and just 'liked' them in the "that's interesting and nice" way - I didn't make any mmmmmmmmmm or wow noises. Decided to stick with what I like. If I remember correctly the only one that piqued my interest was a "Lillydale" Yarra Valley pinot.
Anyway, long way to say put me down as a maybe +1 at this stage.
Cheers
Michael
PS As chance would have it I actually went to Restaurant II for dinner last night with my mum. No sign of Daniel anywhere.......... I am thinking alien abduction.

Good to see you on the list Michael. If I recall, Daniel started the thread for my very first off line and disappeared that time too. We drank a toast to him. I hope he is alright.

No worries Michael, Gerry - I've been down in Sydney for the last few days and will be chasing the restaurant tomorrow as I haven't heard anything after my initial enquiry.

Just spoken to them and it's looking good, I'll have firmer details in the next day or so.
The only hurdle may be deposits, if they insist on this then I'm happy to PM people my bank details and co-ordinate the deposit, but then obviously there is no going back.
I'll update as soon as I have more info - but at this stage I would say we are go for the 29th March.

Howdy, I'm keen to attend on 29 March. A chardonnay and pinot theme is right up my proverbial alley.

Ok - all looking good,
Need to start confiriming numbers & wines if we can as well, as the restaurant will possibly tailor the menu to some extent to match our wines (although I've told them we need to make sure we have choices for each course).
Can everyone let me know if they are coming and whether they are +1?
So far we have,
Nick
Craig
Rens +1
Gerry
Ben
Ideally I'd like to aim for 10 (should give us the widest dish choice) but we can go up to a dozen.
For the wine I was thinking a flight of Chardy, followed by two flights of Pinot - but this will depend on how many of us there are / whether we want to include fizz / stickies as well?
Cost to be confirmed, but I'm guessing a bit more than Brent's so possibly around $120, but I'll be able to firm this up once we've given the wine list to the restaurant.
Cheers - Nick

Hi Guys
I'm 98% going. Just need to check with the social co-ordinator tonight. Anyway put me down for 2 pinots. Probably a Woori Yallock, and a Amisfield. I'll have to check vintages.

Hello all,
Happy to bring a 98 Bass Phillip premium pinot that needs a good excuse to be consumed, plus an 04 Giaconda chard to see how it's travelling. I'll bring a back-up pinot in case the BP is stuffed - though my second to last of this wine pulled from the cellar a year or so ago was still in great condition.
Not fussed on stickies or fizz for this one.
Cheers
Ben

Unfortunately Michelle can't make it, I may ring in a couple of people from work but I'll see how we are going for numbers first;
Nick - either an 06 Ata Rangi or 07JP Fichet Mersault depending on whether we need a Chardy or Pinot
Gerry - 02 Leeuwin Art Series Chardy
Rens+1 08 Woori Yallock & 07 Amisfield Pinots
Ben+1 98 BP PRemium & 04 Giaconda Chardy
Luke Possible - Felton Rd Pinot
Craig are you still keen?
Any other takers?
Nick

Finally had time to get to the cellar. The Woori Yallock is a 2008 and the amisfield will be a 2007.

Gidday team
There is about a 60% chance that I will be able to attend (if you'll have me) but I'm not gonna know for sure until the week before (thank the court system for this as I have to appear as a witness for the prosecution in Brissie on the following day but won't know whether they will just call me on the phone instead, until the week before).
Is it possible to put me down tentatively and if I can make it, I'll bring a Felton Rd Pinot of some description?
cheers
Luke
