Wynns Shiraz 02 vs 01

I spotte the 02 in a Vintage Cellars store on the weekend and grabbed a bottle. Now, my partner and I really liked the 01 shiraz; found it peppery and rich with dark fruit flavours, a good finish, and fine tannins. In general we both thought it was a terrific wine to drink when we couldn't face another glass of chateau cardboard (and didn't have an occasion to open something more special).
In contrast I found the 02 to be very disappointing. The colour was lighter than the 01 - less with the impenetrable purple and more with the deep red. My first impression was of spice, so far so good. Then both nose and palate took on this disconcerting sweetness we could only describe as "jube". Far removed from the fruit sweetness in the 01 this seemed more synthetic.
In all I was less than impressed, anyone know where I can find a decent price on the 01 in Perth?
