Rockford 2007 Rifle Range Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa SA

A bit boring to be honest - not their greatest feat.

A little on the watery side, it seemed to have a very limited range of phenolics and other aromatic 'fun bits'... maybe the product of a dodgy season with water towards picking, I don't know.

Not a wine that will improve overly with time, though even bad cabernet does improve to some extent.

Some cherry, raspberry and softer berry flavours with some spice on the nose, but all of that was muted by the 14.% ABV. Far too high without the fruit to back it up.

Would have liked to have seen more careful extraction.

Maybe it closed down a bit...It was actually quite good last year...I think it was even WOTN for the Adelaide tasting group...

Its probably the weakest RR IMO. Not a slight on the winery - it was a tough year.

Agreed. As in my note, I felt it was probably a seasonal problem.
As my dad always said, you can't extract something that isn't there to begin with!
