Last night I opened a 2000 Majella Cabernet. It was very tannic and very closed. I'm guessing this was as a result of it being so young.
It was the first time I have had any wine from Majella and can see that a few years more in the bottle would certainly help this wine.
Even with ample swirling and time in the glass, it remained closed and became another lesson in why not to drink good wines young.

I would imagine this is an even better reason to stay away form the 99 Cab. It was almost undrinkable a year ago. I tried the 2000 after it had been open for a day and it was delicious, albeit still very tannic.
